Ocho Rios, which translated from Spanish means “Eight Rivers”, is a gorgeous town on the north coast of Jamaica. Over the past twenty years, “Ochi” (as the locals refer to it) has grown from a sleepy fishing village into a popular tourist destination. As a matter of fact, Ocho Rios is the second most visited tourist destination in Jamaica.

Although Ocho Rios translates into eight rivers, it is in fact the stunning waterfalls along with the flora and fauna that catch your attention first. In addition, Ocho Rios, Jamaica owes a large part of its fame to Dunn’s River Falls, which is a highly touted attraction. In fact, Dunn’s River Falls is one of the most photographed and climbed locations in Jamaica.

There is great fun to be had swimming near or under the cool water of Dunn’s River Falls. But you may very well find that it’s the splendid scenery that captivates your attention. Whether you decide to climb the falls or not, you can witness spectacular scenery peering over the falls.

Another famous attraction near Ocho Rios is Fern Gulley, which is a rocky gorge of tremendous depth. For four miles from the coast of Ocho Rios, Fern Gulley weaves its way up into the mountainous area of the island. As you reach this beautiful location, you can find over 500 species of tropical fern and foliage that is typically only found in a tropical rainforest.

What was once a small fishing and banana port has since blossomed into a major tourist resort. Although it is now a world-renowned tourist destination, the culture still persists in Ocho Rios, Jamaica. And there has been a number of new beaches, hundreds of added acres, and even more hotels and restaurants and shopping areas added.

One of the more recent additions to this town is the deep water pier that has space for up to three cruise ships. This added space has made way for a whole new wave of tourists. There now are cruise ship visitors that sprawl throughout the town on a regular basis. And this is just another great way that you can reach the wonderful town of Ocho Rios.

Among the many things to do in Ocho Rios, Jamaica includes Chukka Cove, Safari Tours, and Dolphin Cove. Chukka Cove is a farm and stable where you can ride… no matter what your experience level. The beach ride takes you to a dairy and cattle farm to the beach through the waves. Safari Tours allows you to embark on a river tubing ride or a nice hiking trip through the hills, finishing off with Dunn’s River Falls. Lastly, Dolphin Cove allows you to interact with the dolphins by touching, playing and swimming with them.

Although Ocho Rios, Jamaica was once a small town, it has now turned into a major resort. The culture is still prevalent, but there is far more to do with added shopping areas, hotels, and attractions.

Find out about a top honeymoon hotel in Ochos Rios Jamaica, and organise yourself a romantic getaway package.

Arriving at this top honeymoon resort is a pleasure. The Jamaica Hotel in Ochos Rios Jamaica will send a private car, there will have been cold drinks and face flannels to reinvigorate you after a long flight, especially if you have travelled from Europe. It will take about an hour and a half depending on the roads, and check-in will only seem to take seconds, or so it will seem.

More complimentary drinks, probably a rum punch, what else gives you the feel of Jamaica, and if you have planned your romantic getaway package correctly you will have made sure you have a Superior Balcony Suite on the First Floor.

It’s crazy but up on the first floor is cheaper than the Deluxe Verandah Suite on the ground floor, and the views are so much better.

You can if your finances allow choose a Premier Verandah Suite right on the beach, the Cowdray Suite with separate dressing room, or The Blue Cottage which is a detached one bedroom cottage, right on the beach, a real tropical hideaway.

The White Suite is on its own private peninsula, and is huge, stuffed with fine antiques.

Finally Cottages 3 and 4, which are one reason the Jamaica Inn is a top honeymoon resort. They have fantastic views, an outdoor shower, plunge pool, exclusively private with their own entrance to the sea, and they are tops.

A recent addition are the Jamaica Inn Cottages which are just steps away from the Inn, and the two bedroom cottages have their own kitchenette and living room, so you can have a degree of self catering independence.

A top honeymoon resort should be able to give you a degree of privacy, plus the opportunity to mingle. The Jamaica Inn does this very well indeed. It is one of those places that can be quite full, yet never seem crowded. You will find the beach, rated as the top private beach in Jamaica, yet never seems busy, there is plenty of room for everyone, and the beach umbrellas are even thatched, and the sand everything you thought a beach in Jamaica would be, like white caster sugar. Very quickly you will come to the opinion that this is a real tropical hideaway, and just such a nice place to be staying at.

The staff really do look after you very well indeed, and you again are made to feel very special. There are hotels where you are a guest and you are looked after alright, but at the Jamaica Inn it is as if it is a matter of pride to care for you well. It is therefore no coincidence that the Jamaica Inn is consistently ranked as one of the top hotel and vacation destinations in the Caribbean. Rated 1st in Jamaica, 3rd in the Caribbean by Travel and Leisure in 2008. The recipient of Jamaica’s leading Hotel Award two years running and rated at the top of the hotels in Jamaica and in the top ten in the Caribbean by Conde Naste Traveler.

These recommendations by themselves should do more than enough to convince you that this is a top honeymoon resort, as well as the best luxury resort and hotel in Jamaica, so choose it for your tropical hideaway and you won’t be disappointed.
